While I've been to this restaurant before, it has been a few years. I remember it as satisfactory, but not amazing. Today I tried a carry out and am disgusted by what I brought home. The drunken noodle with beef had a rubbery meatless flavored beef as well as a strange stringy substance that look a bit like ground chicken on a string, eck, what the heck is it!! When I called the restaurant to ask for a refund they offered a 10% discount... what?! Or I could drive back and receive the same dish for free (but why). Why would I want another of the same and the 10% just doesn't make sense... I'm done with any food from... sigh, so gross, Sy Thai!!!

This place is one of the more authentic and fresh tasting Thai restaurants in the metro area. Efficient and friendly staff. Need to explore more of the menu.

I have to say that this used to be THE Thai place my wife and I would go to. But after the last few attempts to get some decent Pad Thai, the results are inconsistent and sub-par. We're on the hunt for a new Thai food place now. Strangely, I ordered the Gang Gai and wife ordered Pad Thai again. Mine was fresh, colorful and tasted ok. Hers looked like it had been sitting for hours and smelled sour. The rice noodles were yellowed and stiff. I called to complain and they made her a Gang Gai because she liked the way mine looked. Honestly, when I brought it back home we discovered that the dish looked completely different than mine. Only had bamboo shoots and overcooked looking green peppers, and was really too saucy. Poor wife.

Total crap. We could not finish our meals because the sodium level was through the roof. My Pad Thai was swimming in a salty oil bath while my wife's fried rice must have had a cup of salt poured over the top. Our meal was a waste of money and from now on, we will stick to Golden Chopsticks on Jefferson.

Their Pad Thai is just good, not great, but the Sy's Thai Steak (NY over rice and veggies with thai sauce), is absolutely amazing. By far it's the best $13 steak in the area. Pad Ped is good... If you want it hotter, send it back... I generally get my items medium, and it's plenty hot for me. I can handle hotter but don't like to ruin the taste of my food. They have a hot pepper sauce at the table, and they're more than happy to bring you more dried chili's or to take a dish back to the kitchen and make it more spicy. Great service, really clean, tastefully decorated place, elegantly dressed, polite staff. I love this place. If the food was slightly better I'd give it 5 stars.

They have the best spring rolls and peanut noodle which is GF. Service is always fast and friendly at multiple locations.

This place has amazing Thai food. Very authentic. The spice levels are higher, which I prefer. The interior is very clean and beautifully decorated. They did mess up my friend's order, but it was quickly fix and they comped it on the bill

The best Thai food around here! Pad Thai is the bomb and chicken is always cooked perfectly. Good prices for lunch!

I'll be honest, I am a ridiculously picky eater. When it comes to Thai food, there's pretty much only one dish that I like to eat. It's peanut satay. It's got everything I like, chicken rice peanut sauce. Well, Sy Thai in St Clair Shores has the absolute best chicken satay. In fact, tonight, I just ordered white rice in the peanut sauce to take home and make my own little meal. I didn't even get the chicken this time. My dogs are going to be so mad at me :-) but seriously, the atmosphere is a great restaurant. They have a very quick and efficient carry out process. It is in a little strip mall so the location is a bit hard to find. Prices are a little bit more expensive then other Thai places I've been to. But, I think its worth it!

First let me say if you are not a fan of cilantro make sure you tell them NO CILANTRO!! I know it's a staple in asian food but they like to use it a lot here! This PSA was brought to you by my hatred for cilantro! Anywho...This place is yummy in the tummy!! The coconut curry is so dreamy! I always go in there or order a carry out with eyes much larged than my stomach so having left overs is always the bonus!! Everything here is so fresh and made to order. It's deff not all sitting in pots waiting for you to order like some places. The soups are oh so good and chuck full of tastey veggies to make you smile. They spice accordingly too which is great. Ive gotten mild at some other joints and thought my face was going to melt off it was so hot. Oh and hello rad staff!! So friendly and they will tell you exactly what is in everything if you need help ordering. I like to ask what their fav is and I will get it on their recomendation sometimes and have never been led astray! CLEAN!! Clean is key!! Although i do love a vintage dark old school chinese place now and then I like how tidy it is here as well. One of the best Thai places in the area, in the shores its the best thia hands down. Go get some noodles and enjoy!!

There are quite a few choices for Thai now around the Metro area, including a few good ones on the East side. Sy Thai Shores does not disappoint. The best words to describe it are solid and reliable. Nothing here will blow you away, but nothing slips below that "yeah, it's pretty good" level that you want to be at for basic take out food. Tom Yum Soup, Larb, the Summer Rolls, many of the noodle dishes (Pad Thai, Red Coconut Curry, Noodle Roni, just pick your fav), Crab Cheese appetizer, Thai Fried Rice...everything hits the spot for "I just want some thai." This isn't grand gourmet, it doesn't try to be overly authentic, and we don't care. It just tastes good! The drawbacks, though minor, are in parking, which can get overwhelmed by the nearby Shores Inn, and the baffling turnover in cashiers, which leads to confusion from time to time. There is a lot to be said for a restaurant that simply does what it sets out to do -- Provide decent thai food for a hungry crowd.

I started this review months ago and never finished it. What's wrong with me?! I must be slipping in my old age or maybe when I ordered my Pad Thai Hot it really blew my mind and made me forget what I was doing. And holy crap is the Hot, Hot! I have had my fair share of Thai from various places in the Metro Detroit area and whenever I ordered Hot it is always Medium at best. I guess it all depends on how heavy the Chefs hand is and this Chef must have had a brick in his. I will definitely not underestimate it the next time we dine there. The food was still very good though, just after eating a quarter or so of it my taste buds were so fried I couldn't enjoy it anymore so I took the rest home. The only thing better then good Thai food is day old cold Thai food. I was hoping that when I ate my left overs the coldness of my fridge would have killed some of the spice and it in fact only made it hotter. What the what?! Still very good though. What makes this place stand out above all others is the fact they have Bubble Drinks. There are very few places that offer this outside of Ann Arbor so it was a real treat to see it on the menu. If you aren't familiar with them they are basically giant pearl sized Tapioca balls and they are added to drinks (mostly teas from what I have seen), but here they add them to frozen slushies. So good! The only bad part is you need to drink them rather quick (which may result in a killer brain freeze to add to your burning tongue - not a good combo) or else they become frozen themselves and the texture of them is just weird. All in all this is probably the best Thai I have had in a long time and can't wait to go there again and try something a little spicy.

Ordered carry out-pad Thai and pattani with chicken and spring rolls- really yummy. Medium spicy was plenty, like other reviews they do use spice. Little pricy for carry out but have left overs calling me...

I had heard some pretty good things about this place but honestly I think it's just average. I had tried a few of their dishes and nothing was spectacular but nothing was terrible so there's that too. I dont know that I would be back... but it was good for carryout when we needed it.

Great fried rice and Pad Thai with huge portions. I haven't eaten inside but they are always really friendly and fast when I pick up food. I highly recommend this place!

We've never dined in...always ordered take out. Two entrees are always enough to feed 3 of us. Pad Prik, curry rice, and lettuce wraps are our usual order. I also enjoy the fresh rolls and chicken satay. Service is courteous. Prices are good.

My favorite restaurant ever. The place serves amazing food, big portions and the staff is great! I will say that I notice a difference in my food (a good difference) when I order in the evening vs lunch. When I have my weekly Thai craving, I wait til' 5.

If you want authentic, delicious, and inspiring Thai food...Sy thai is the place to go. My girlfriends best friend took us here and I have been itching to go back ever since...haha, it's only been one day. This is the best Thai you can get in Metro Detroit...HANDS DOWN!!!

Wow! This was some really bad food. I checked all the reviews before I went here and most of them were very good reviews. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai ( my wife also got the same minus chicken), waited inside for it be cooked and packaged and headed home to eat. I was very surprised when I took my first bite, the noodles were very soggy and mushy, the flavor was so so bland I couldn't believe it. I eat Thai every week and I am picky, but most of the time I can at least eat the meal I paid for. Not this time, after paying $27.00 (which by the way seems to be pricey) my wife and I both dumped the food out. I can see having an off night, and the food not being as good as normal. But for it to be this bad......I wouldnt chance going back.

Went again, hoping my earlier review was an aberration. Nope, same result. Disappointed relative to many visits since it opened. I would only go back under time pressure but would argue vigorously against it. Would not get violent about it but.....

This place is pretty good. I had the Pad Thai and it was awesome. They have those Styrofoam like chips that were really good in this spicy soup I had. I'm really hungry right now and I think I may go there for dinner. Sounds good.

I usually patronize the Sy Thai in St. Clair Shores, but both are the same. I've never really been a fan of thai food until I ate here. I ordered the Kow Pad with tofu and mild spice. Fantastic! Plus, the staff is super friendly and quick on take-out orders.

Ok, so ... had I written this review a year ago, even two years ago, this would have been an easy 4 or 5-star rating. I'm not sure what has happened since, but suffice to say that while the food remains a plus (I know that's our main concern here), the service has taken somewhat of a severe nosedive. We've all been to places where your server has unknowingly dwindled their tip down to nothing more than a statement that they weren't doing their job. But guys, this was off-the-charts bad. I'll get to the food in a minute but I have to say this first ... we were forgotten. FOR-GOT-TEN ... and by forgotten, I mean we seriously considered whether or not the staff may have inadvertently slipped a few drops of invisibility potion in our drinks. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes to be asked if we wanted something to drink. Following the drinks and our order being taken, we waited somewhere in the vicinity of 15-20 minutes to receive our food. Umm, Thai food ... as in ... it doesn't take 20 minutes to have Thai food delivered to your house Thai food. At this point it was more of an eyebrow raising kind of thing. Wow, we thought, it's really slow now and it was slow last time we were here. Now the worst wait of all ... the after-you've-eaten time when all you really want is for the check to arrive so you can start executing the plan for the rest of your day. For this wait, I'd put a time on it but there was no time ... we literally never saw our waitress again. I know she didn't leave because I saw her poke her head around the corner fast enough for me to get a glimpse of her but too fast to hear my plea of "Excuse me, can we ..." It was like a bad game of Whack-A-Mole ... there she is! Oh, too slow ... Is that her?! So we finally had to flag down the first person we saw in a uniform, ask if we were being held there for a legal reason, and hope that the check would arrive before we were hungry again and had to start this process all over. I feel better for having vented. Now, the food itself ... was excellent. It's always very good and we have tried several different dishes here. I normally go with the Pad Thai, mild with chicken. Deb fluctuates between Egg Noodle with chicken or the Drunken Noodle. We've tried the Larb as well and that's nice as an appetizer. In all, the food did it's part and earned the first three stars of the review. Too bad the service was so much of an Achilles and couldn't muster even one.

Sad to say this restaurant's quality has gone steadily downhill over the last several months. The last (because I'll never go back) meal I had was dreadful. There was a hair in one of the dishes we ordered and one dish that was supposed to be chicken was, instead, a mystery meat. The last several meals had varying degrees of quality. One dish that was supposed to be a curried cashew rice had neither curry nor cashews and they prepared it three different ways the three different times we ordered it. Overall, the food quality and taste has become inconsistent enough that it is no longer a viable Thai food option for me and my family.

Call this a knee-jerk, reactionary review. Call it what you want, but whenever I experience intestinal distress from a first time visit, this is what you get. The favorable reviews here gave me incentive to check out this "hidden treasure". Further, I was impressed by the clean, modern interior that is decorated smartly and not overdone. The amount of clientele also gave me hope for a fine dining experience. The crispy rolls were tasty and so was the sweet chili sauce. However, one of the two rolls was overdone and tough. My entrée, Pra Ram (chicken - mild), had a nice presentation. The taste was completely disappointing. The peanut sauce was virtually unseasoned. I tried to doctor it up by adding both sugar *and* salt. Their version of "mild" is more like "no spice". The sticky rice that came to the table had a dried out, crusty layer from sitting out far too long; possibly under a heating lamp. Also, for some reason, my meal came with a steak knife (a steak knife also came with the appetizer, which made a little more sense). I will spare you the details of my post-meal adventures. Suffice to say, I was not a happy camper!

Excellent Pad Thai as well as spring rolls. Ive also had each of the four different preparations of duck that they serve here and they are all great! So far Ive made my way through over half of the menu and I havent found anything that I wasnt completely satisfied with. Service here is always great and every table is served soup and shrimp chips immediately upon being seated. Great place to stop in for a quick bite as the tickets are turned very quickly.

I suppose if you were absolutely dying for Pad Thai... I don't know, have ordered from here several times between different family members who find okay Pad Thai is oily, greasy, bland, spice inconsistent - I've never had anything so oily and greasy when it comes to Thai, it's slippery weird feeling - personally, I find the rice noodles way too wide as well, but that's more of a preference thing but they remind me of egg noodles, not rice noodles even in their texture Had rice dishes as well, can't remember the names, but again, I've never had any rice dish so oily or greasy feeling to the point where it's not even enjoyable - I never order from here We don't go here or order from here anymore since we discovered Thai Bistro in Grosse Pointe - go there, you won't be disappointed

OK so it's been a while but from what I remember it was AWESOME Any place that gives you a cup of Hot and Sour just for sitting down..AWESOME Any place that has chunky chicken LOADED with Cilantro and spices that you can wrap in lettuce...AWESOME Any place that looks so un-assuming yet is so bold in flavor....AWESOME Any place that makes all this and more affordable...AWESOME The portions are big, and it all tastes fresh. The service was fantastic and you see every ones face light up while they sit to eat..you know you're in for a great meal!

  • ROSA Y.

The quality of the food seems inconsistent. Sometimes it's very good, sometimes it's just average. The last time I was there, I specified mild and definitely got very spicy! By the time my replacement meal arrived, my fellow diners were finished eating, so I just took it with me. Kind of ruined the whole experience. Still, I'll go back because their noodles are excellent.

I took some family members here during the week for lunch. The food was good, however the service was horrible. The used dishes piled up on the table until after we left. The waitress brought the bill in a plastic case for credit card or cash payment and never returned to the table! I had to take it up to the counter and another employee had to run my card and return the invoice for me to sign to the table. Needless to the say, the waitress got a generous 10% tip! Stay away from this restaurant if you are on a schedule or want good service.

This is the best Thai in Metro Detroit. Better than Bangkok 96, Thai Palace, etc. Great and friendly atmosphere. The cheese crab appetizer is delicious as is the gang gai and the bubble drinks!

Ever since Sy opened up, me and my family have been regulars. It was good to get a quality thai restaurant in the St. Clair Shores area, and Sy's definitely fits the bill. I have had quite a few dishes on their menu. Prior to becoming vegan, Jub Chai and basil fried rice were my favorite dishes to get, with the pad gai, drunken noodle, cashew nut, and peanut dishes also frequented. Now that I am vegan, however, I have ventured into the red coconut curries prepared without fish sauce, and they are really tasty!!!! Yesterday I got the pattani with tofu, and that is my new all time favorite at sys. You should note that sys mild is a little hotter than most places in the area it seems, so order your heat level accordingly. I usually go mild plus here and it feels like a medium. For the first time I ordered a dessert, and got the steamed banana and sticky rice. It was tasty but small, however the price was reasonable, and the coconut flavor strong. Service is always good, I think my water glass almost never hits empty here without refill offered, and I love that they ask if you want more first, I hate when places just refill your glass, it wastes so much water if your not that thirsty. Price is also reasonable for the large portions here, your basically getting a dinner and tomorrows lunch at about 10 or 11.

Back when we had more Doctor's lunches, Sy Thai was something we ordered quite often. We always had enough food, and it was always delivered early/on time. We often ordered some satay, and we always ordered their Pad Thai. In fact, their Pad Thai dish was so good that it inspired my love for the dish itself. Yum! Their pad thai comes wtih the usuals, with bean sprouts, ground peanuts, onion, and egg. I wish I had more excuses to order it and that it were closer to the office

I would love to review the food. But that can't happen when both times I have tried to order take out from there they screwed up my order. i don't eat meat, so i ordered a vegetable dish. Just one thing, not too difficult of an order, right? wrong. They made chicken. How can you get the word "vegetable" confused with "chicken"? they don't even sound close. And the girl who took my order was American, so no language barrier excuse here. Maybe they aren't getting the words confused, perhaps the dingbat cashiers don't know how to work the register. Yesterday I worked all day, dealt with insane rush hour and construction traffic to get over to pick up dinner. I had to order out because current renovation at my house prevented me from cooking. Called in an order, which looked to be ready when i picked it up, until they said "chicken curry noodle mild plus correct?"...NO. VEGETABLE. The response I get "oh, tee-hee-hee, The vegetable button must be next to the chicken button, tee-hee-hee" Then a pretty rude "well you can wait for a new dish"...no thanks. i'm almost scared to try the food, if they are that incompetent to take an order for one simple dish, i can't imagine what is going on in back of the house behind closed doors. maybe if they do something about the customer service they would be a good place to go, maybe their food is amazing, but i will never know.

Horrible!!! I had eaten here once before over a year ago and it was better than the other day. The service is pathetic, they drop stuff on your table and run away before you can ask any questions. I am a vegan, so I need to make sure there are no animal products in my food, however the staff didn't seem to want to be bothered with answering my questions. I'm fine with substituting tofu for meat in my dish, however they were extremely stingy with the vegetables. The brown rice was the only good thing in my meal, as they overcooked the tofu and it was like chunks of rubber. So disappointing. No veg options for soup or appetizers and I had to try and explain to them about my need for a vegan sauce on my stir-fry. Huge communication barrier with the servers. I am all for cultural diversity and I truly embrace preserving one's customs (to a point) and language from the old country, but for God's sake . . . if you are going to live here and work here, learn to speak and understand English!!! I will never go back there again. Truly a waste of money and not enjoyable when you're stressed out over trying to communicate with the staff :(

This is sooooooo good!!! Love it Love it Love it. Love their pad thai and drunken noodle! Their calamri appitizer is delish also. This is a small hidden resturant. I just so happened to find it by internet search in the area... but I'm sure this place is based on word of mouth. It's like a hidden treasure that people keep to them self becase they don't want it to be spoiled by over crowededness. I'll tell you all about it... but keep it on the hush... :-)

Yum!! The Hubs and I were looking for a new place we had never been before, so we turned to yelp, and again were very very pleased! Restaurant itself is very clean!! And very nicely decorated!! When we sat our server brought over basket of shrimp chips! I cannot even remember the last time I had these! We ordered hot tea, the jasmine tea is very nice! App: Spring Rolls. Had a great crunch, loaded with veggies, and not dripping with grease! They came with a good plum sauce, it was yellowish in color, not the typical orange, but it had a good taste! Dinner: Hubs had the Drunken Noodle which is one of his favs. He really really liked it! Loaded with FRESH veggies! The heat level was good and he had enough to bring home and eat for a snack later. I ordered the Orange Chicken. I was very pleased to find it was not going to be battered and fried chicken. It was loaded with FRESH bell peppers, green and red onions and chicken. The bell peppers were perfect! They were not cooked so long they were wilted and falling apart. They still had a great crunch! Chicken was juicy, tender, and all white meat. I ordered the sauce mild and the heat factor was just right. It was the right amount of orange sweet with a slight heat!! It was wonderful! It was served with a huge bowl of white rice. The hubs and I could have ordered one meal and shared if we wanted. We both brought a lot home for another meal! :-) While we were there, a lot of people were picking up/placing carryout orders, and a few people dining in! We already picked out a bunch of meals we want to try on our next visit!!

We were unable to get there till 15 min before closing and they still allowed us to sit down to eat. Service was very good as well, they were very attentive. As for the food.. lettuce wraps-my hubby's new favorite appetizer. Tom Yum-was my favorite appetizer Crispy rolls-so good!! Pad-Thai with Tofu-flavor and heat was very good. Hubby likes medium normally but I asked for mild. Good thing he said it was just right. Drunken Noodles with veggies-also very good so many fresh veggies it was wonderful. Last but certainly not least was the Thai crêpes with Mangos. They were so good just the right amount of sweet. Simple yet very tasty. All in all it was a very good night thanks to YELP. We will be back. :)

    My boyfriend and I get carry-out from here at least once per month and I always get the veggie curry. It's amazing there. I've never eaten in- always carry out. But I will continue getting it. Just wish they delivered. (: My only complaint is that no matter how mild you order something it's so spicy after eating it my lips look like I had Botox. (;

One of the places I go when have the thai withdrawal grabbing me. Chicken lettuce wraps are really good. I usually get a couple of the vegetable dishes and always good. Made fresh. This location is also clean and is a good place to grab a bite with you significant other. Not to casual nor upscale.. comfortable ambience. Only had an issue once in a while with calling in an order and language barrier but nothing serious. Solid 4 stars

Randomly stopped by here after looking up nearby restaurants on yelp and was very happy we did. Ordered tofu pad Thai and crab rangoons and they truly were amazing and worth eating again. In addition the portion sizes are huge and I had left overs for the next day.

This used to be my favorite Thai place; I'd go here every time I was in town and take my whole family out for dinner- but this year, the ingredients became cheaper and the flavor bland. It's a real step down from what they were and now it's just any mediocre Thai place. I hope they can bring back the authenticity, in the meantime I'll be going elsewhere.

  • Kera M.

This place used to be awesomeeeeee..past 3 visits have completely let me down, I kept giving them a try but both pad thai/gang pad and veg curry were so bland, i couldn't even finish my meal!! Which says a lot coming from me! lol..their spice levels seemed off every time as well, either not enough spice or way too much when I always get medium...mehhh, so sad because I really loved this place 2 years ago.. Bah Mai Thai downtown off East Lafayette still my #1 ! or Sala Thai off Russell in Eastern Market are never a let down, as for St Clair Shores, I will have to look into other thai places and see if I can find a new local thai restaurant, because I will not be coming back to Sy Thai Shores anytime soon!

A year ago I would have rated this much higher as it was my absolute favorite Thai place. However, the quality has gone downhill. For starters the second from last time I went here and got a carryout they not only gave me the wrong food, but charged me more for what they gave me as well which wasn't my order. The girl at the counter was so busy that she didn't check the order and when she rang it up the price seemed higher than usual, but it had been a while so I didn't give it too much concern. I took the food, left and my friend carried the bag out. However it was much heavier than usual so when I realized that we received the wrong order we called back since we were starting to drive home and were a few miles away. The same girl who took our order and gave us the wrong one said no problem, said they would make our food and we could pick it up in a few minutes. We returned with the wrong order they gave us and the girl looked in the bag then told us to keep it since no one could eat it anyway. However she never once apologized for the mix up she made. She also never reimbursed us from the overcharge she gave us either which at the time I didn't get too worked up about given she was giving us the food we didn't order to begin with. We had also ordered spring rolls which were the only thing that was right in our bag, but by the time we got our actual order over 45 minutes later after standing and waiting for it because our order was messed up yet again as the cook only made one meal when we had ordered two. After the wait we expected they would replace the spring rolls, but they did not. Again I didn't complain because it was almost closing time and after waiting over an hour total for them to get the order right I was ready to call it a night. By the time we got home over 1/2 hour later we asked our roommate if he would like the "free" or really $8 extra meal we hadn't wanted. However when we opened the bag that the girl who worked at the restaurant looked at, we discovered that the food was piping hot still. It was so hot in fact that the lid on the container had cracked into about a million pieces and the food container was filled with broken plastic thus making the meal uneatable which was clearly the result of the food being too hot when it was packaged. To make matters worse the container on top had the same problem so we had two containers of food that were completely inedible that the girl had to have seen were broken when she gave them to us yet she never decided to keep it and trash it or reimburse us the extra money but rather made us think we are getting some kind of deal since she screwed up when in all actuality it was nothing but an inedible yucky mess she clearly didn't want to deal with. Then our spring rolls that were in there were so heavily drenched by the gravy and the plastic that you couldn't eat them either so again that was another few dollars wasted. The food that was actually out order that night was inconsistent. We got medium spice and one was hot and the other one had no flavor whatsoever. It was extremely disappointing and we decided we probably wouldn't go back there again because of how awful it was but being loyal customers and having been our favorite Thai place we decided to give it another try this week. After we did we both wished we hadn't considering that we got our usual order and we brought it home. Again the spice was inconsistent the rice tasted old and while I was eating my meal I had a huge chicken bone in my food. While accidents happen sometimes and you can't get every bone this one was very obvious and I don't understand how it could have ended up in my meal. That being said as much as I used to love this place considering how bad its been we won't be going back again it's not what it used to be unfortunately.

Good Thai food but overpriced and inconsistent. I usually order a medium spice, sometimes it comes as no spice and other times hotter than the sun spice, and the box always has medium written on it so I know they knew it was suppose to be medium. Sometimes they get cheap on the sauce too and I get it kind of dry, and other times you would think I had ordered Pad Thai soup with how much sauce they put in it. Like I said, no consistency. My Fiance found a hair in her Pad Thai one night (which understandably it happens) but they were unwilling to make her a new one as they had just closed 3 minutes prior, until I got on the line and threatened to notify the health department on them. They finally agreed but demanded I bring the one with the hair back, as though I was going to keep it and eat it.

I really like this place. I have only had take-out from here but every time it's really good. I would highly recommend it to everyone. I'm partial to the see iew with chicken or crab. So good. I live in St. Louis now but whenever I visit home, this place is a must to visit for me.

The food here is good. The service is a bit slow but you can call ahead for lunch and they will have it ready for you.

Good: Big portions, cheap ($6.95 for lunch entree or $8.41 after 6% sales tax and 15% tip). Bad: Culinary skills were lacking. Fried rice was too sweet for example. Pieces of chicken kinda just huge chunks thrown in. P.S. Most places in the US I always ask for extra spicy/hot. This was the first place I've tried where they actually mean it when they say extra hot.

This is still one of my favorite Thai restaurants, but I have become less "Go Team" about them in the recent past. I think there has been a slight turnover of waitstaff because they are not as good as they used to be. I was here a couple months ago and it took the server at least 7-10 minutes to acknowledge us and give us water, and then we obviously had to wait longer to get our order in. It was not terribly busy other than a 6-7 top that was being served their food. If the servers cannot handle this than they need to think about hiring people who can. I also do not like how the chef and lunch and the chef at dinner time put in different amounts of spice. I does not bother me terribly and I can handle it, but some consistency would be nice.

I can't grade the restaurant, but the takeout is delicious. Be warned, when you order heat it's what you expect from Thai food. Too many Thai food places don't live up to the spice. We ordered the Gang Gai, Pad Thai and Kow Pad. All delivered on great flavors. The Pad Thai had different noodles than I'm used too, but was still tasty. I'm sure the other dishes are equally good and we will be ordering from Sy Thai Shores again.

Came here on a Sunday after church service and this place is just like any of its other location. Neat setting and friendly staff. Ordered the Sy Thai Chicken and it is such a ridiculously giant bowl of food! I eat a lot and by the time food coma got to me, there was still half of the food still waiting to be eaten. Packed it and there was barely any room in the container so it makes a really good dish to buy if sharing. Speaking of the size of the dish, the chicken was spectacular. It's lightly breaded and fried to perfection. If it's fried, it's probably going to be good and better yet, it's tossed in some thick sweet brown sauce. Really good and really really good if you add some sort of spice to it.

I've been coming here for years and it's been my favorite choice for Thai. When dining in, it's always good service, even when they are busy. My favorite dish is the Noodle Roni with fried tofu, a dish I haven't found at any other Thai restaurants I've visited. The crab cheese as an appetizer is also very delicious. Prices are reasonable, restaurant is clean and service is fast, whether dining in or getting take out. I love Sy Thai Shores!

I used to eat here 3 times a week because the food was delicious and consistent - not anymore. Now it's infrequent that I'll get a good tasting dish, other times it's awful. I've stopped dining here because of the inconsistencies, and for the price it's not worth it.

I FINALLY HAD THAI! It was one of the bigger "food groups" I had never tried in over two and a half decades of life. I've done sushi and Chinese and eaten all kinds of meat and seafood from around the country. But Thai ...I used to be very against spicy food until I started putting sriracha on EVERYTHING almost a year ago. It changed me. It was the first visit for my GF and I. It was pretty dead around 7 p.m. and we could have picked any booth in the place. It's nice and quiet and pretty relaxing. The service is outstanding. Our waitress told us about the different levels of spice in each dish and gauged what we would like based on our personal preferences, which is usually beneficial. They start out by bringing you chips that are an assortment of colors, like teal, pink, green, etc. It looks like colored Styrofoam and tastes like it too I guess. I wasn't really in the mood for the faux cotton candy or whatever it was. They also bring you cabbage soup, which contains green onions and chicken. It's basically a broth but it's not bad. OK, now the best parts. I got the Pad Thai (first time, I had to!) with the medium sauce. Now, if you've never been here, there are six levels of spiciness at your disposal. I got the medium sauce, which is 3rd on the scale. It was still pretty damn spicy! Nice kick to it, cleared my sinuses. The Pad Thai comes with lime and lemon wedges, wide noodles, sauce, crushed peanuts, bean sprouts and egg. It's pretty good and filling overall (I had to take leftovers home), though the peanuts were a little too much at times. My GF got veggie Thai, basically. She liked it but was not overly impressed. That was my impression as well ...the food is good, but a meal for two (with waters) for around $25 is kind of steep. Yeah, the portion size is huge but still, it's not mind-blowing. Filling does not always equate to hunger-quenching. I will have to go back and try other things at some point, but I can't see myself ordering Thai as much as sushi or Chinese at other venues.

Sy Thai is the best Thai restaurant I've been to without question. I've gone to many other restaurants, with friends or without, and simply nothing stacks up Sy Thai's quality, service, and atmosphere. The food is second to none. Everything looks excellent and tastes even better. The spice levels are consistent, and shouldn't they be? I can be confident in trying new dishes because I know that no matter what, they'll be prepared as well as they possibly can be. I've never had a problem with an order there, ever, and I've probably been there at least 20 times. The bubble drinks are well-done also and make a great dessert for two. The service is great, too. I've always been seated quickly and never had to wait for a table. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Food comes out quickly and just as you ordered it. My only small, small negative is that with their satay, the peanut sauce is only really good, not awesome. ;) That being said, I can very easily recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai food.

We ordered the chicken egg noodle and kow pad chicken. Both were great and I'm glad we were able to find good Thai food near our new home as we usually have to hike to Royal Oak area to score some. Looking forward to trying other menu items in the near future. Little more expensive than I usually pay for Thai food but the portion sizes are pretty large

I have been coming here for the last two years. It is definitely my go-to Thai restaurant. There are a few things that I want to mention: Starter: shrimp fresh roll and crispy fresh roll: absolutely delicious. The fresh rolls (not crispy) are so healthy for you and have so many flavors! You will not be disappointed but please do not mix this up with a spring or egg roll. Best dishes: curry noodle, drunken noodle, mussuman curry. These are my favorite, but I can promise you that any other entree you order will be superb. Although I get shrimp with almost any entree, I have never tried their seafood specific entrees so that is the area that I cannot comment on. I definitely prefer to eat in, they usually have their hot and sour soup served complimentary as well as shrimp crackers- but sometimes they do change the soups up. The hot an sour soup is delicious!!!! Onion, mushroom straws, it is all good! A good tip, order a side of peanut sauce to dip the shrimp crackers in- you'll never have them any other way. The service is always phenomenal! Too quick, even, sometimes. The only reason it does not have that fifth star is the price. When you eat in and get the soup, crackers, etc. It is definitely worth the 11-14 dollar entrees, but with takeout- it seems just a couple dollars too pricy. I must say though, this doesn't stop me from coming! I am always always always getting takeout. Best Thai around! Check it out :)

As many times as I've been here I can't believe I never wrote a review. Shame on me. Went Tuesday night and wow what a difference from previous visits. I ordered the crispy duck and was surprised when a bowl of yummy cabbage soup arrived, you now get soup to start and man oh man was it good. The duck was excellent as well perfectly cooked, crispy skin and super moist inside. My friend had the lettuce wraps as app. and there was enough for 2 for a entire meal. Loaded with chicken & peanuts. We honestly got full just from the soup and app. Service was spot on and clean is a understatement. Sorry Sy Thai for not doing a review earlier

Best Thai food around. Have tried 90% of the menu and have always been pleased. Last Friday had the sirloin steak since I was not in the mood for traditional Thai...it was amazing! Husband ate half of my plate! Favorites: larb, crispy & fresh rolls, crab cheese, vegetable curry (with string beans instead of water chestnuts) and basil fried rice. There are always leftovers...love it!

My parents are from Asia and we all agree that this is one of our favorite Asian places in the area. I've gone here for years, but they recently added new items, changed the presentation of their food, and it appears as if their serving sizes have increased. I love dining in because of their complimentary soup and shrimp crackers, but be sure to allocate some extra time because service can be pretty slow. My go to is the udon noodles with shrimp with medium heat. I've tried a variety of other menu items and haven't encountered a dish I didn't like. The prices seem pretty reasonable too!

My favorite restaurant ever. The place serves amazing food, big portions and the staff is great! I will say that I notice a difference in my food (a good difference) when I order in the evening vs lunch. When I have my weekly Thai craving, I wait til' 5.

Ok, so ... had I written this review a year ago, even two years ago, this would have been an easy 4 or 5-star rating.

I usually patronize the Sy Thai in St. Clair Shores, but both are the same. I've never really been a fan of thai food until I ate here. I ordered the Kow Pad with tofu and mild spice. Fantastic! Plus, the staff is super friendly and quick on take-out orders.

I really like this place. I have only had take-out from here but every time it's really good. I would highly recommend it to everyone. I'm partial to the see iew with chicken or crab. So good. I live in St. Louis now but whenever I visit home, this place is a must to visit for me.

I had heard some pretty good things about this place but honestly I think it's just average. I had tried a few of their dishes and nothing was spectacular but nothing was terrible so there's that too. I dont know that I would be back... but it was good for carryout when we needed it.

    My boyfriend and I get carry-out from here at least once per month and I always get the veggie curry. It's amazing there. I've never eaten in- always carry out. But I will continue getting it. Just wish they delivered. (: My only complaint is that no matter how mild you order something it's so spicy after eating it my lips look like I had Botox. (;

Randomly stopped by here after looking up nearby restaurants on yelp and was very happy we did. Ordered tofu pad Thai and crab rangoons and they truly were amazing and worth eating again. In addition the portion sizes are huge and I had left overs for the next day.

Ok, so ... had I written this review a year ago, even two years ago, this would have been an easy 4 or 5-star rating.

We had a wonderful dinner again. Every time we are here we both get something different. Fantastic! I love this place.

    My boyfriend and I get carry-out from here at least once per month and I always get the veggie curry. It's amazing there. I've never eaten in- always carry out. But I will continue getting it. Just wish they delivered. (: My only complaint is that no matter how mild you order something it's so spicy after eating it my lips look like I had Botox. (;

I used to eat here 3 times a week because the food was delicious and consistent - not anymore. Now it's infrequent that I'll get a good tasting dish, other times it's awful. I've stopped dining here because of the inconsistencies, and for the price it's not worth it.
